A HAMLET FOR “YOUNG AT HEART” SENIORS AGED 55 PLUS
Remain independent yet not lonely
L'Esprit Vin-t-age: concept of an exclusive hamlet consisting of a maximum of 15 houses - aimed at people over 55, who are planning ahead, who accept that they are ageing yet want to remain in charge of their way of life and their freedom.
Be independent: each person / couple over 55, living in their private home whilst sharing spaces for leisure and sports activities.
Not lonely: each inhabitant of the hamlet (owner or tenant) can become a member of the association which has the aim to promote the sharing of social and recreative activities. The shared spaces are made available to the association by different owners . eg veggie garden; space for floor exercises, leisure activities eg card games, book discussions ; area for meals and reunions ; a garden adorned with sculptures and a fish pond.
Association: The inhabitants show their goodwill by joining the association which will co-ordinate the shared activities. This is an opportunity where each person can retain a social role by sharing their particular talents with others according to their aptitudes.
HOW THE CONCEPT CAME TO LIFE
Live in a friendly environment that generates authentic relationships and encourages
involvement in projects to help everyone stay young and involved.
Discussing the idea with our friends, each person brought something different to the table, but there is a core set of values we all share.
One of them immediately joined the project, bought some land and built a home.
Convinced of the success of this project in 2021, we ourselves started with Phase 1 and built 3 houses which are now rented out. The last two plots in Phase 1 were sold and the owners elected to have their houses built by construction companies of their choice. These too are now complete. One more house was added in 2024 which has just sold.
In 2023 we started with Phase 2 and built a further 4 houses of which two are already occupied and 2 are for sale. Phase 3 is now for sale consisting of 3 plots on which one can build one’s house to one’s own taste, for instance a wooden house. The first person to build here, will determine the style. An offer on lot 1 pending and they will be building a wooden house.

Different owners in the hamlet offer different areas to the association to use for activities. For example:
there is a garden , entertainment area with kitchenette, pizza oven, BBQ and covered shaded area From the entertainment area across the pond and sculpture garden, one can see the building housing a meeting room. A veggie garden will also become available for shared use in the future
